Elizabeth was born and raised in Minnesota. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, graduating cum laude with honors in May of 1993. She earned her J.D. from Drake Law School in Des Moines, Iowa, graduating with honors in May of 1996.

Elizabeth moved to Florida after law school. She worked as a prosecutor for over 20 years. She worked at the State Attorney’s Office in Miami for 4 years, and then spent nearly 17 years at the State Attorney’s Office in Sarasota. Throughout the course of her career, she prosecuted every type of crime in Florida, from the most minor misdemeanor and traffic offenses to the most serious felonies, including homicide and sexual crimes against children. She has tried over 200 jury trials, and thousands of bench trials and motions.

In April of 2018, Elizabeth joined the Van Ness Law Group, where she represents clients in criminal cases. Drawing on her experience as a prosecutor, Elizabeth handles all aspects of criminal defense. She is a member of the Florida Bar and the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys.
